The Northern Knights travelled down the Hume on a mission. Off the back of a strong win against the Dandenong Stingrays, the Knights faced a key clash against the Cannons, inaugural TAC Cup Girls Premiers.
In whirly conditions, the Knights strong midfield unit led by skipper Maddy Brancatisano, were able to sweep the opposition off their feet at times, moving the ball with swift pace and class into the forwards. Beneficiaries, Alex Pronesti and Alyssa Bannan were able to capitalise on the fantastic ball movement adding two majors each.
Dual-sport athlete, Gabrielle Newton was instrumental in the clearances, providing first use to the speedy Marnie Jarvis and Abigail Bennet. Around the ground, the Knights stood tall all over when threatened in defense. Sarah Sansonetti led the backline bridge consisting of Pheobe Chisholm, Maeve Chaplin and Paije Kearney with a fearless and uncompromising approach. Bottom ager, Ashleigh Snow played an integral part, taking on the game and rebounding across halfback.
In a day that saw six multiple-goal scorers, the Northern Knights are collectively coming together as a team and showing promising development.
