The Northern Knights continued their great start to the season with a gritty win over Greater Western Victoria Rebels.
In a challenging match that rocked with a seesawing score line, the Knights were asked some hard questions from the visitors.
In the first quarter, the Knights squandered some easy opportunities in front of goal but with key forward Alex Pronesti a steadying influence, they were able to convert their midfield dominance on the scoreboard.
Rebels fired back in the second quarter with great chain passages and some outstanding goals from Sophie Molan and Tara Jasper.
The Knights found themselves in a similar position at half time, backs against the wall, asked to dig deeper and push harder to have numbers around the contest.
Bannan led from the front with her silky disposal up forward. She was assisted by the pacey Ellie McKenzie who kicked a goal of the year contender from three-bounces across the wing.
Sarah Sansonetti lead from the front in the fourth, intercepting marks and setting up the play from the halfback. So too, Nell Morris-Dalton, who stood tall in the last to clunk crucial contested marks around the ground.
The Knights armour was tested this week by a very strong outfit in the Rebels. The win was an indication of what hard work can achieve and the development required for the rest of the season.
