Four Northern Knights players have been given an opportunity to showcase their talents to recruiters in the annual AFL Victoria Young Guns Game this Sunday Morning at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
The match is hosted each year before the VFL Preliminary Finals and has proved to be an event which can bolster the draft stocks of many players at TAC Cup, VFL and Local Level.
Carlton’s Father-Son opportunity Jake Bradley has been chosen in the Black Team, whilst Corey McKay, Chas Roberts and Jamison Shea will represent the Green Team.
19 Year old Chas Roberts says its an incredible opportunity and one he is looking forward to.
“I find it humbling to receive recognition about how I’ve been progressing with my football, and it’s good to get reward for hard work on the track” Roberts said.
“I certainly couldn’t have imagined this two years ago. The Knights have put a lot of time and effort into my development, and its good to have an opportunity to repay that”.
Deputy Vice-Captain Corey McKay was given an opportunity following a great top-age year with the Knights, leading the club in goalkicking.
“It feels pretty good getting selected to play in the Young Guns Game as it gives me another chance to show what I can do and the attributes I have to offer.” McKay commented.
“I’m mostly looking forward to hopefully playing the best game I can and kick a few snags!”
There’s also been an opportunity given to 2015 Knights’ graduate James El Moussalli, who has spent his first season away from Preston City Oval at Essendon VFL.
The game is also about promoting rising young coaches in the state. Assistant Coach Frankie Raso has been lucky enough to be given one of the head coaching roles on the day
