On Saturday the 23rd of July the Northern Knights hosted their annual Sponsors and Parents Brunch before their Round 14 TAC Cup match against the Eastern Ranges.

It was a great opportunity to thanks all the parents and sponsors that have contributed so much time, effort and financial support into the club.

Talent Manager Rhy Gieschen says without the sponsors the club wouldn’t survive.

“The aim of this program is to develop young athletes into the best possible footballers and individuals that they can be when they exit the program and without the support and donations from our amazing sponsor group we wouldn’t be able to run the program to the standard that we currently do.” Gieschen said.

“Again to our parents – today was just a small token of appreciation for the many hours they dedicate to our program. To constantly bring their son to training and games, support them and encourage them in everything that they do in our programs, we thank them. The support we get from our parent group has been fantastic in 2016 so hopefully those that were able to attend today were able to relax and enjoy the morning.”

The club was privileged to have Manager of National Talent Kevin Sheehan as a special guest.

Sheehan spoke about his footballing life to Northern Blues General Manager Garry O’Sullivan and talked about some of the kids he has seen come through the TAC Cup, including naming Wayne Carey as the best player that he recalls as a junior.

“It was a fantastic day and a big thank you to Garry O’Sullivan and the Northern Blues for their assistance, as well as our guest speaker the legendary Kevin Sheehan.
