Northern Knights kicked the last two goals to snatch a thrilling TAC Cup win against Greater Western Victoria Rebels on Sunday.
The Knights trailed by 12 points with eight minutes on the clock before a Sam Philp major brought them within six.
Patrik Della Rocca was the hero up forward, kicking the matchwinning goal at the 21-minute mark of the last term.
Northern held on for four minutes after Della Rocca booted his second major to clinch a 9.10 (64) to 9.6 (60) win in Ballarat.
The Round 9 clash turned into a shootout when GWV’s Izaac Grant and Knight James Lucente, who bagged 12 of the game’s 18 goals between them.
Grant was superb with seven of the Rebels’ nine goals, while Macleod junior Lucente booted five.
The Knights had been in the box seat after they registered 4.4 to 1.1 in the second term to take an eight-point buffer to halftime.
But the Rebels, led by three goals from Grant, responded to turn for home with a six-point advantage.
Lucente levelled the scores 26 seconds into the last quarter before the Rebels answered again, only for the visitors to rally in the last 10 minutes to edge to a four-point win.
Stefan Uzelac, Joel Randall and Josh D’Intinosante were also important for the Knights, who sit sixth after their fourth win of the campaign.
Northern takes on Western Jets this Saturday from 10.30am at Williamstown.
